Fatality Crash in Ste. Genevieve County


In Ste. Genevieve County, a man is dead after a two motorcycle collision that ejected both drivers.

On November 15, 2013 at approximately 10:45 p.m., Joseph Davis, age 22 of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri was operating a 1987 Yamaha Warrior. Chad Unterreiner, age 26 of Perryville, Missouri was operating a 2007 Yamaha Raptor.

At that said date and time, Joseph and Chad were traveling in the northbound direction on US Highway 61 and north of Route J. The crash occurred as Joseph’s motorcycle came to a stop in the roadway, and at that same time Chad failed to notice his stop. The front of Chad’s motorcycle collided with the rear of Joseph’s motorcycle, ejecting both of them.

Chad Unterreiner was pronounced dead by coroner, Leo Basler, and then transported to Basler Funeral Home. Joseph Davis received serious injuries and was taken to Barnes St. Louis Hospital by air evacuation.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, neither Joseph nor Chad was wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash.

Joseph’s 1987 Yamaha and Chad’s 2007 Yamaha both received total damages and were towed by Stuppy’s Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
