Four People Injured In Three Vehicle Collision

Jasper County – A three car collision sends four people to the hospital after a car crossed the center line.

On Sunday, April 14, 2013 Adam W. Goodpasture, 15, of Carl Junction, was operating a 2006 Ford Escape. Madelyn A. Smith, 30, of Joplin, was operating a 2007 Pontiac G6. Tina M. Webb, 35, of Webb City, MO was Smith’s only passenger. Lawana C. Esch, 52, of Pittsburg, KS, was operating a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. Brayden R. Esch, 0, of Pittsburg, KS, was Esch’s only passenger.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, around 1:00 p.m. on that said date, Goodpasture was traveling westbound on MO 171 when the vehicle crossed the center line and collided with Smith’s vehicle head-on. Esch then rear ended Smith’s vehicle.

Madelyn A. Smith was taken to Mercy Hospital by ambulance with moderate injuries. Adam W. Goodpasture and Tina M. Webb were taken to Freeman West Hospital with moderate injuries. Brayden R. Esch was taken to Freeman West Hospital with minor injuries.

The 2006 Ford Escape was towed from the scene by Cottrill’s Towing of Joplin with total damages. The 2007 Pontiac G6 was also towed from the scene by Wininger Towing of Joplin with total damages. The 2013 Hyundai Sonata received moderate damages and was towed by Wininger Towing of Joplin.

This accident was investigated by Sergeant D. Kuchler of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D.
