Missouri driver is taken to local hospital after a tire blew off of another vehicle, striking him in the head.
On August 20, 2012 at approximately 8:15 p.m., 50 year old Richard Talley of Hannibal, Missouri was operating a 1989 Kenworth traveling eastbound on 54, approximately .2 miles west of Route M. At this time and place, a tire on a white enclosed trailer traveling eastbound in front of Talley blew off, striking Talley in the head. The driver of the trailer did not stop and their identity is unknown.
Richard Talley was transported from the scene of the crash to Capital Region Hospital by ambulance for treatment of moderate injuries. Talley was wearing his safety device at the time of the crash. Talley’s vehicle sustained no damage and was moved to Route MM and 54 following the crash. Talley did possess insurance coverage for his vehicle at the time of the crash.
This crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper N.R. Atkinson who was assisted by CVO S.M. Suling and Miller County.
