Hartsburg’s Dustin Walker Is Tragically Killed, By A Dump Truck That Failed To Yield

Dustin A. Walker, of Hartsburg, MO., has died from injuries he sustained in a car crash Tuesday morning.

Dustin A. Walker, 30, of Hartsburg, MO., was driving his 2015 Ford Fusion northbound on Highway 63, when a 2000 International dump truck, driven by Jerry O. Johnson of Kirksville, failed to yield and collided with Walker’s Fusion.

The fatal crash occurred in Macon County, at U.S. Highway 63 and MO-156, on June 2nd at 8:37am.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported Jerry Johnson failed to yield, causing his dump truck to slam into the side of Dustin Walker’s Ford. Dustin was pronounced dead at the scene, and Johnson was not injured.

Dustin was wearing his seat belt, as was Jerry Johnson. The impact of the crash was so severe, both vehicles came to a stop, off of the roadways. The Missouri Highway Patrol did not report whether any criminal charges were expected against Johnson.

Trooper Bartholomew #136, of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop B, was assisted by numerous other members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Macon County Fire and Rescue, Ambulance and the LaPlata Police.
