On December 7, 2012 at approximately 3:00 a.m., Emily Ferguson, age 19 from St. Louis, Missouri was operating a 2004 Nissan X-Terra. Charles Mills, age 39 from St. Peters, Missouri was operating a 2009 Hino Straight truck.
At that said time, Emily was traveling in the westbound direction but in the eastbound lanes of I-70 while Charles Mills was traveling in the eastbound direction. The collision occurred as Emily was operating her vehicle in the lanes of oncoming traffic and collided with Charles’ vehicle head-on.
Emily Ferguson was pronounced dead at the scene by Boone County coroner, Dori Burke, and then transported to the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office in Columbia, Missouri. Charles Mills received serious injuries from the head-on collision and was taken to the University Hospital in Columbia. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Emily Ferguson was not wearing a seat belt during the time of the collision.
Emily Ferguson’s 2004 Nissan received total damages and was towed by Van’s Towing in Kingdom City. Charles Mill’s 2009 Hino truck received total damages and was towed by Russ Automotive in Millersburg, Missouri.
