Head-on Collision Injures Two

In Newton County, two people are injured after the driver of one vehicle crosses the center line and collides head-on with another vehicle.

On February 23, 2013 at approximately 3:15 a.m., Brandon Cooper, age 29 from Joplin, Missouri was operating a 2000 Buick. Enrique Gutierrez, age 28 from Miami, Oklahoma was operating a 2003 Chevrolet.

At that said date and time, Brandon Cooper was traveling in the southbound direction as Enrique Gutierrez was traveling in the northbound direction on Coyote Road and 1.5 miles south of Joplin. The collision occurred as Brandon Cooper crossed the center line and nearly collided with Enrique’s vehicle head-on.

Enrique Gutierrez received minor injuries and was transported to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Brandon Cooper received moderate injuries and was transported to Freeman West Hospital.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Enrique was the only occupant to be wearing a seat belt during the time of the collision.

Brandon Cooper’s 2000 Buick and Enrique Gutierrez’s 2003 Chevrolet both received extensive damages and were towed by Chuck’s Towing of Joplin, Missouri.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop D.
