Head-on Collision Involves Two Fatalities on US 61


In St. Charles County, two men are dead after a head-on collision that occurred on US Highway 61 and south of Route A.

On September 16, 2013 at approximately 4:10 p.m., Roger Peek, age 52 of Moscow Mills, Missouri was operating a 1997 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight. Eugene Haggard, age 39 of Troy, Missouri was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. And David Huskey, age 44 of Foristell, Missouri was operating a 1997 Volkswagen Jetta.

At that said date and time, David Huskey and Eugene Haggard were traveling in the northbound direction on US Highway 6, .25 miles south of Route A, and while Roger Peek was traveling in the southbound direction. The crash occurred as Roger Peek crossed the median into the northbound lanes of traffic and collided with Eugene’s vehicle head-on. David Huskey’s vehicle was struck by debris from the crash.

Eugene Haggard and Roger Peek were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by St. Charles County Coroner EMS personnel and then transported by Lonning Mortuary to the St. Louis County Morgue. David Huskey was not injured in this crash and did not seek medical attention.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, neither Roger Peek nor Eugene Haggard was wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash.

Roger Peek’s 1997 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight and Eugene Haggard’s 2001 Chevrolet Silverado both received total damages and were towed by Crash City. David Huskey’s 1997 Volkswagen Jetta received minor damages and was driven from the scene of the crash.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
