Head-on Collision Involving Wrong Direction Driver


In Clay County, a head-on collision injures two people after the at-fault driver was traveling in the wrong direction.

On January 24, 2014 at approximately 3:56 a.m., Chad Logston, age 23 of Excelsior Springs, Missouri was operating a 2002 Buick. Crystal Beckett, age 33 of Gladstone, Missouri was operating a 1999 Ford.

At that said date and time, Chad Logston was traveling in the northbound direction while Crystal Beckett was traveling in the southbound direction on I-35 and 400 yards south of Pleasant Valley Road. The crash occurred as Chad was traveling in the wrong direction on I-35 when his vehicle collided with Crystal’s vehicle head-on.

Crystal received serious injuries from the head-on collision and was transported by Pleasant Valley ambulance to Liberty Hospital. Chad Logston was moderately injured and was transported by KC Fire to North Kansas City Hospital.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, it is unknown if either Crystal or Chad were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.

Crystal’s 1999 Ford and Chad’s 2002 Buick received total damages. Both vehicles were towed by GT Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop A, Clay County Deputies, North Kansas City Police, Liberty Police, Kansas City Missouri Police, and the Pleasant Valley Police.
