Head-on Collision Kills Slater Woman

In Saline County, a woman of Slater is killed after she crossed over the center line and collided head-on with another vehicle.

On January 19, 2013 at approximately 4:45 a.m., Rechilda Sample, age 65 from Slater, Missouri was operating a 2008 Dodge. Angel Santiago-Gonzalez, age 52 from Marshall, Missouri was operating a 2010 Chevrolet.

At that said date and time, Rechilda Sample was traveling in the westbound direction as Angel Santiago-Gonzalez was traveling in the eastbound direction on Missouri Highway 240 and 2/10 of a mile from Missouri Highway 41. The head-on collision occurred as Rechilda Sample crossed over the center line and collided with Angel’s vehicle.

Rechilda Sample was transported in critical condition by helicopter ambulance to the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Later, Rechilda was pronounced fatal due to her injuries. Angel Santiago-Gonzalez was transported by helicopter ambulance to the Research Hospital in Kansas City with serious injuries. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Angel Santiago-Gonzalez was the only occupant in the collision to be wearing her seat belt.

Rechilda Sample’s 2008 Dodge and Angel Santiago-Gonzalez’s 2010 Chevrolet received total damages and were towed by Cadwell’s Tow.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop A, the Saline County Deputies, and the Marshall Police Department.
