Head-On Collision Seriously Injures Two, Fatally Injuring One

Hickory County, Missouri – Three people were injured after a head-on collision on MO-64 on Tuesday afternoon.

Marilou H. Baldwin, 74, of Wheatland, was driving a 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis eastbound on MO-64. Robert D. Baldwin, 78, also of Wheatland, was her only passenger. Timothy A. Hatmaker, 53, of Cross Timbers, was also heading eastbound. Connie F. Smith, 69, of Pittsburg, was driving westbound.

Sometime around 12:30 p.m. on April 9, Marilou H. Baldwin crossed the center line and struck Connie F. Smith’s vehicle head-on two miles west of Nemo, MO. Timothy A. Hatmaker, who was driving behind Baldwin, ran off the left side of the road to avoid the accident.

Marilou H. Baldwin was airlifted to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO. Robert D. Baldwin, the passenger of the vehicle was taken by ambulance to Citizen’s Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, MO. Connie F. Smith was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO where she was pronounced dead.

Marilou H. Baldwin and Robert D. Baldwin both sustained serious injuries.

Timothy A. Hatmaker did not sustain any injuries and drove his vehicle, which received minor damages, from the scene of the accident.

Both vehicles in the collision received total damages and were towed by Hickory County Towing from Hermitage, MO.
