I-49 Crash Seriously Injures Passenger

In Jasper County, the passenger inside a vehicle is seriously injured after the driver lost control and overturned.

On September 15, 2013 at approximately 5:15 p.m., Starlet Pendergrass, age 38 of Carthage, Missouri was operating a 1997 Ford Explorer along with passenger Rudy Norris, age 33 of Aurora, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Starlet was traveling in the southbound direction on I-49 and 6 miles north of Carthage. The crash occurred as her vehicle traveled off the right edge of the roadway, lost control, and overturned.

Rudy Norris received serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to Freeman West Hospital. Starlet Pendergrass received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Freeman West Hospital.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, both occupants were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Starlet’s 1997 Ford Explorer received total damages and was towed by M & M Wrecker of Carthage, Missouri.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop D and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
