Ice Covered Bridge Results in Serious Injuries

In Laclede County, two people are seriously injured after the driver lost control of his vehicle on a ice covered bridge.

On January 31, 2013 at approximately 3:20 p.m., Alonzo Thompson, age 21 from Sumter, South Carolina was operating a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Travis Davis, age 27 from Raleigh, North Carolina was the only passenger in Alonzo’s vehicle at the time of the crash.

At that said date and time, Alonzo Thompson was traveling in the eastbound direction 9 miles east of Lebanon on I-44. The crash occurred as Alonzo lost control of his vehicle while crossing an ice covered bridge and then ran off the right side of the roadway, collided with a rock embankment, and then overturning several times.

Travis Davis and Alonzo Thompson were seriously injured in the crash and were both transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri by Mercy Hospital ambulance.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, both occupants in this crash were wearing their seat belts.

Alonzo’s 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee received total damages from the crash and was towed by C & S Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop I.
