On August 1, 2011 at approximately 4:05 p.m., 70 year old Clay Ellis of Blue Springs, Missouri was operating a 2002 Chevrolet, traveling eastbound on MO 150 at the meeting of Smart Road. Ellis’s vehicle was occupied by himself and his 41 year old son, Clay Ellis also of Blue Springs, Missouri.
At that said time and place, 39 year old Daniel Desrosiers of Greenwood, Missouri was traveling southbound on Smart Road, approaching MO 150. The crash occurred when Desrosiers failed to stop at a stop sign and made a left turn onto MO 150 into the path of the Ellis vehicle.
Ellis, the 70 year old driver, was transported from the scene of the crash to Centerpoint Hospital by Life Flight with serious injuries. Ellis, the 41 year old passenger, was transported by ambulance to Centerpoint Hospital with moderate injuries. The at-fault driver, Desrosiers, was transported from the scene of the crash to Research Hospital in Kansas City with moderate injuries.
The Ellis vehicle sustained total damage in the crash and was towed from the scene by Jackson County Tow. The at-fault vehicle also received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Jim’s Tow. No parties involved in this crash were wearing their safety devices.
Investigation of this crash continues and charges are pending. This crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Sergeant C.L. Schwalm and was assisted by Cpl Dick, Trooper Wood and the Greenwood Police Department.
