Jefferson City Pedestrian Seriously Injured by Driver in Minivan

A woman in Jefferson City was seriously injured after a woman driving a van hit her as she was walking across the street.

On Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at approximately 7:55 a.m., Alice Andrews, age 29 of Jefferson City, was making a left turn from East Dunklin Street onto Jackson Street. At that same time and place, Carol Ortbals, age 56, was walking west, crossing Jackson Street, when she was struck by Andrews’ van.

Ortbals was taken by ambulance from the scene of the accident to a local hospital in Jefferson City. From there, she was life-flighted by helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia where she was reported to be in critical condition.

The Jefferson City Police Department‘s traffic unit is continuing to investigate the incident.
