Kenneth R. Ernst from Prairie Home Missouri, Seriously Injured in Truck Accident


A serious truck crash occurred on Thursday evening, May 21st at 9:30pm, in Moniteau County on Highway 87, approximately one mile north of Highway 179.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported, a 1970 American General tanker driven by Devin A. Baysinger, 24, of Jamestown, MO, was attempting to back out of a private drive, onto Highway 87 to face southbound. In doing so, Devin A. Baysinger and his tanker, was partially in the northbound lane of Highway 87.

Travelling northbound on Highway 87 was Kenneth R. Ernst, 68, of Prairie Home, MO. Mr. Ernst was driving a 1999 International truck that struck Mr. Baysinger’s tanker, in a head-on collision.

Kenneth R. Ernst suffered serious injuries in the crash that totaled both vehicles. Mr. Ernst was airlifted to the University of Missouri Hospital, by the Staff For Life helicopter. Mr. Baysinger received no injuries and refused treatment at the scene.

I-70 Towing of Columbia removed both vehicles as Trooper W J Surface (977) investigated the accident. Trooper Surface was assisted by Trooper A C Piercy (1157). Both Trooper Surface and Piercy are from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s highly decorated Troop F.
