St. Louis – An argument over home repairs ends with one man hospitalized after being shot and hit with a hammer.

A resident of the 4600 block of Enright Avenue was outside conversing with a neighbor when a worker pulled up in a red minivan and started arguing about repairs that he had done at the resident’s home.

The 53-year-old resident, whose name has not been released, was attacked by the worker after he got out of the vehicle and started swinging a hammer.

After being hit in the arms with the hammer, the victim escaped by running to his porch where he was then shot at by the worker as many as five times, one bullet wounding his upper right leg. The victim returned fire as the worker drove off and then called the police.

The resident was in serious but stable condition on Thursday after being transported to the hospital, said department spokeswoman Leah K. Freeman.
