Missouri Driver Killed in Continuing Crash Investigation

When one driver crossed the center line on MO 58 in Johnson County, he crashed into oncoming traffic, which resulted in the death of the victim.

On April 21, 2012 at approximately 4:50 P.M., 48-year-old John Racy from Centerview, Missouri was heading north on MO 58 at Route VV in a 2007 Dodge. At said time and place, John Silverthorn, age 67, from Holden, Missouri was southbound in a 1991 Chevrolet.

The crash occurred when Racy crossed the center line and crashed into Racy in a head-on collision.

Silverthorn was killed as a result of this crash. He was pronounced dead at Western Missouri Medical Center by Dr. White two hours later, and the next-of-kin was notified. Racy suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene of the crash. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at this time.

Racy’s vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Ron’s Tow. Silverthorn’s vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Ron’s Tow.

This investigation continues and is led by Trooper B. R. Peters and assisted by South Johnson County Police Department of Troop A in Johnson County.
