Missouri Resident Dies in Crash on I-70

When one driver attempted to pull onto I-70 from the right-hand shoulder in Callaway County, he was crashed into and killed as a result.

On March 26, 2012 at approximately 9:45 A.M., 33-year-old Ryan Brewer from Eagle River, Wisconsin was heading east on Interstate 70 at the 164 mile marker in a 2003 Kenworth. At said time and place, Brady Austin, age 36, from Lake St. Louis, Missouri was heading east in a 2011 Can-Am.

The crash occurred when Austin pulled from the right hand shoulder into traffic on Interstate 70. Brewer crashed into Austin’s vehicle, which then exited off of the roadway on the right side. Austin was ejected from the vehicle even though he was wearing a seatbelt.

Austin was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Callaway County Coroner Dori Burke and the next-of-kin was notified. He was transported from the scene of the crash to Callaway County Medical Examiner’s Office in Columbia, Missouri. Brewer did not suffer injuries as a result of this crash.

Brewer’s Kenworth received moderate damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Russ Automotive of Fulton, Missouri. Austin’s vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Russ Automotive.

This crash was investigated by Troop F and was their 14th fatality for the year of 2012.
