When one driver changed lanes on I-44 in Greene County, he crashed into an impact attenuator of a MoDOT (Missouri Department of Transportation) work truck and caused minor to moderate injuries for himself and the MoDOT driver.

On April 25, 2012 at approximately 9:20 A.M., 39-year-old Jason Kruse from Willard, Missouri was operating a 2012 Ford F150 and heading east on I-44 a quarter of a mile west of Springfield. At said time and place, William North from Webb City, Missouri was heading east while operating a MoDOT work truck and following a striping crew.

The crash occurred as Kruse changed lanes to the left and crashed into the impact attenuator of the MoDOT work truck. Both vehicles came to a controlled stop on the left shoulder of I-44.

Kruse suffered moderate injuries and was taken from the scene of the crash to Cox South Hospital of Springfield by ambulance. North suffered minor injuries and was taken from the scene of the crash to Mercy Urgent Care of Springfield by a MoDOT supervisor.

Kruse’s vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by All Night Towing of Springfield, Missouri. North’s MoDOT work truck did not receive damage as a result of this crash and was driven from the scene.

This investigation was led by Trooper Adam Poulson and assisted by MoDOT and the Springfield Police Department.
