A Pettis County resident was injured in a four-vehicle traffic crash in Lafayette County on Sunday.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as a northbound vehicle, driven by 44-year-old Joaquin Vasquez-Gutierrez, of Sedalia, reportedly struck the rear of another northbound vehicle, driven by 63-year-old James Middleton, of Independence, which reportedly caused Vasquez’s vehicle to cross the center line and into the path of a south bound vehicle, driven by 20-year-old Morgan Hightree, of Jameson.
Hightree’s vehicle traveled off the roadway after striking the Vasquez vehicle, where another southbound vehicle, driven by 21-year-old Taylor Case, of Alma, reportedly also struck the Vasquez vehicle.
Vasquez and Hightree each reportedly were transported by Lexington E.M.S. to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence for treatment of moderate injuries. Case and Middleton reportedly were not injured.
The crash happened just before 7 p.m. near the intersection of Missouri Highway 13 and Higginsville Road.
