Motorcycle Crash Seriously Injures Cuba Man


In Franklin County, a crash occurs as the handlebars of two motorcycles hit each other and eject both drivers.

On December 1, 2012 at approximately 6:10 p.m., Gary Reithemeyer, age 27 from Cuba, Missouri was operating a 2004 Honda CFR230. Jacob Lantrip, age 16 from Union, Missouri was operating a 2007 Kawaski KXL 10.

At that said time and place, Gary Reithemeyer was traveling in the southbound direction on Camp Mobile Road and .2 miles north of Route UU as Jacob Lantrip was traveling in the northbound direction. The crash occurred as the handlebars of the two motorcycles collided with each other, ejecting both drivers.

Gary Reithemeyer received serious injuries from the collision and was taken by air evacuation to Mercy Creve Coeur Hospital. According to the crash report, Jacob Lantrip was the only one to be wearing a safety device at the time of the crash and was uninjured.

Gary Reithemeyer’s 2004 Honda CFR230 and Jacob Lantrip’s 2007 Kawaski KXL 10 received minor damages and were both towed by private parties.

This motorcycle crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop C.
