Motorcycle Fatality in Montgomery County


In Montgomery County, a Kentucky man was killed after the driver of a vehicle lost control, traveled through the median, and collided with his motorcycle.

On June 22, 2013 at approximately 12:00 p.m., Alyssa Crawford, age 19 from St. Charles, Missouri was operating a 1997 Toyota Camry. Joseph Wiechert, age 55 of Cox’s Creek, Kentucky was operating a 2012 Suzuki Motorcycle.

At that said date and time, Alyssa Crawford was traveling in the westbound direction as Joseph Wiechert was traveling the eastbound direction on I-70 at the 186 mile marker. The collision occurred as Alyssa lost control of her vehicle, traveled across the median, overturned and collided with Joseph’s motorcycle.

Joseph Wiechert was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Montgomery County coroner, Dave Colbert, and then transported to Pittman Funeral Home in Jonesburg, Missouri. Alyssa Crawford received minor injuries from the collision and was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph West.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Alyssa Crawford and Joseph Wiechert were wearing safety devices at the time of the crash.

Joseph Wiechert’s 2012 Suzuki Motorcycle received total damages and was towed by Montgomery Sales and Salvage. Alyssa Crawford’s 1997 Toyota Camry received extensive damages from the crash and was also towed by Montgomery Sales and Salvage.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop F. This is Troop F’s 4th fatality for June and 12th fatality for 2013.
