In Platte County, a vehicle crosses paths with a motorcyclist which results in serious injuries for the victim after being ejected.
On September 1, 2012 at approximately 1:17 p.m., Brian Kathol, age 55 and from Wichita, Kansas was operating a 2000 Harley Davidson and traveling in the northbound direction of I-29. Rocky Dacre, age 30 and from Platte City, Missouri was operating a 1997 Chevrolet and traveling in the southbound direction of I-29.
At that said time and place, Rocky was traveling southbound on I-29 when he traveled off the left side of the road, crossed over the median cable barrier, and coming to rest momentarily in the median. Rocky accelerated and began to travel across northbound I-29 and into the path of Brian Kathol’s motorcycle. Brian collided with the front right side of Rocky’s vehicle and both vehicles traveled off the right side of the road. Brian Kathol was ejected from his motorcycle and came to a rest in a ditch. Rocky’s vehicle traveled through the ditch and came to a rest in the grassy area.
This motorcycle crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop A, Platte County Sheriff’s Office, and the Platte City Police Department. Investigation still continues with charges pending.
