Motorcyle Crash Leaves Officer with Serious Injuries

St. Genevieve County – A police chief in Leadwood, MO sustained serious injuries after being hit while riding his motorcycle Wednesday.

On Wednesday, April 1, around 5:10 p.m., Dale W. Newman, age 45 from St. Genevieve, MO, was riding his 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Marvin D. Milburn, age 50 from Farmington, MO, was operating a 2003 Ford Ranger.

At that said date and time, Dale Newman was driving on MO 32 when he stopped to make a left turn into a private drive. Marvin Milburn was also driving on MO 32 behind Newman.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when Marvin Milburn failed to see Dale W. Newman stopped to make a left turn and the front of Milburn’s truck struck the rear of Newman’s motorcycle. The impact of the collision caused Newman to be ejected from the motorcycle into the westbound lane of traffic on MO 32.

Dale W. Newman was taken to Barnes Hospital by Air Evacuation Helicopter with serious injuries. Marvin D. Milburn was not wearing his seat belt, but did not sustain any injuries.

Milburn’s 2003 Ford Ranger received moderate damages and was driven from the scene. Newman’s 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle received total damages and was towed by Stuppy’s Towing.

This accident was investigated by Sergeant D. S. Larsen of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C.
