In Wright County, A Head-On Collision causes Three Fatalities, and Four Seriously Injured.

On June 1st, 2014 at approximately 10:55 P.m., Austin Branham, age 22 of Mansfield, Missouri was operating a 1993 Chevrolet s10 truck. Melanie Hayes, age 54 of Melber, Kentucky was operating a 2010 Chrysler van with passengers Angie Dillingham, age 42, Emma Dillingham, age 7, Natalie Hayes, age 18, Valerie Hayes, age 10, and Shirley Phillips, age 76.

At that said date and time, Austin Branham was traveling westbound in US 60 when he lost control of his vehicle causing him to travel off the left side of the roadway trough the median and hit head-on with Melanie Hayes van. Austin truck overturned in the roadway and caught fire. The van ran off the right side of the roadway and impacted with a rock bluff.

Melanie Hayes, Shirley Phillips, and Austin Branham were pronounced deceased at the scene 1:10am by Wright County Coroner Sheriff Glenn Adler. Melanie and Shirley were transported to Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. Austin Branham was transported to Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Mansfield, Missouri. Angie Dillingham, Valerie Hayes, Natalie Hayes, and Angie Dillingham received serious injuries and were transported by Air Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, All occupants of the van were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident, but it is unknown if Austin was wearing his.

Melanie’s 2010 Chrysler van and Austin’s 1993 Chevrolet s10 truck received total damages, and were towed by Elliott’s Towing in Macomb, Missouri.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop G, crash investigation team, Mansfield PD and Fire Department, Mountain Grove PD, Norwood Fire Department, Wright County Sheriff’s Department, and The Department of Transportation. This is Troop G’s 9th, 10th, and 11th fatality for 2014.
