Negligent Driver Causes Crash


In Platte County, two vehicles are involved in a collision after the at-fault driver traveled into another vehicle’s lane.

On February 12, 2014 at approximately 5:55 a.m., Marion Coffman, age 72 of Kansas City, Missouri was operating a 2012 Kia. Howard Maddox, age 57 of Spartanburg, South Carolina was operating a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu.

At that said date and time, both vehicles were traveling in the northbound direction on I-29 and 56th Street. The crash occurred as Marion’s vehicle entered the lane already occupied by Howard Marion and collided with his car.

Marion Hoffman received moderate injuries and was transported by Kansas City Fire to North Kansas City Hospital. Howard Maddox received minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene of the crash.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, both Marion and Howard were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.

Howard Maddox’s 2014 Chevrolet Malibu received moderate damages and was driven from the scene of the crash. Marion Coffman’s 2012 Kia received moderate damages and was towed by Ace Tow.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop A.
