Negligent Driver Injuries Herself and Two Others

In St. Clair County, a collision that could have been avoidable is caused due to the negligence of one driver who was not paying full attention to the roadway.

On February 22, 2013 at approximately 10:39 a.m., Shelbi Arndt, age 19 from Kansas City, Missouri was operating a 2008 Ford Focus. Jerald Nichols, age 51 from Deepwater, Missouri was operating a 2000 Chevrolet 1500. Holley Nichols, age17, was the only passenger in Jerald’s vehicle during the time of the crash.

At that said date and time, Shelbi Arndt and Jerald Nichols were traveling in the northbound direction on Missouri Highway 13 and 4 miles north of Lowry City. The collision occurred as Jerald slowed his vehicle to make a right turn onto northeast 1126 Road as Shelbi was currently adjusting her radio. When Shelbi looked up and saw Jerald turning, it was too late and she was unable to avoid a collision with Jerald’s vehicle.

Jerald and Holley Nichols were both moderately injured and were transported to Sac Osage Hospital in Osceola, Missouri. Shelbi Arndt was transported to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri with moderate injuries. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all occupants involved in this crash were wearing their seat belts.

Shelbi Arndt’s 2008 Ford Focus received extensive damages and was towed by Golden Valley Towing of Clinton. Jerald Nichols’ 2000 Chevrolet 1500 received extensive damages and was towed by C & H Towing of Collins, Missouri.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop D.
