Niangua Man Killed in Head-on Collision

In Webster County, two vehicles are involved in a head-on collision after one vehicle was traveling on the wrong side of the roadway.

On November 5, 2012 at approximately 4:55 p.m., Steven Braden, age 18 from Rogersville, Missouri was operating a 2004 Dodge truck. Cheyann Stuart, age 15 from Rogersville, Missouri was the only passenger in the vehicle with Steven Braden during the time of the crash. Teresa Barnes, age 39 from Niangua, Missouri was operating a 1993 Nissan Sentra. Justin Kolb, age 29 from Marshfield, Missouri and Darryl Seay, age 53 from Niangua, Missouri were passengers in Teresa’s vehicle at the time of the collision.

At that said time and place, Steven Braden was traveling in the southbound direction as Teresa Barnes was in the northbound on route B and one quarter mile north of Rogersville, Missouri. The head-on collision occurred as Teresa Barnes operating her vehicle in the wrong lane of traffic. As the vehicles approached each other, both vehicles swerved off the road at the same time and collided head on.

Darryl Seay was pronounced dead by Webster County coroner, Michael Taylor, and then taken to Preston Marsh Funeral Home in Rogersville, Missouri. Teresa Barnes received serious injuries and Justin Kolb sustained moderate injuries from the collision. Both Teresa and Justin were taken by ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Cheyann Stuart received minor injuries and sought her own treatment. Steven Braden was uninjured and did not seek medical attention.

Steven Braden’s 2004 Dodge truck and Teresa Barnes’ 1993 Nissan Sentra received total damages from the head-on collision and were towed by Apex Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop D. This is troop D’s 80th fatality for the year of 2012.
