Overturned Vehicle Causes Serious Injuries


In Atchison County, two people are seriously injured after the driver neglected to operate the vehicle correctly, causing it to travel down an embankment and to overturn.

On March 23, 2013 at approximately 1:10 a.m., Christopher Barnes, age 20 of Albany, Missouri was operating a 2008 Hyund along with passenger Madison Stinemetz, age 18 of Omaha, Nebraska.

At that said date and time, Christopher Barnes was traveling in the eastbound direction on US Highway 136 and 8 miles east of Tarkio. The crash occurred as Christopher failed to maintain the vehicle on the roadway and crossed the center line, traveling off the north side of the highway. Then the vehicle impacted an embankment and overturned.

Madison Stinemetz received serious injuries and was transported by Atchison Holt ambulance to Fairfax Community Hospital. From there, Madison was LifeFlighted to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. Christopher Barnes received minor injuries and was transported by a private vehicle to Fairfax Community Hospital.

Christopher Barnes’ 2008 Hyund received total damages and was towed by Double M Towing of Rock Port, Missouri.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop H.
