Overturned Vehicle Kills Passenger in Alleged Drunken Driving Crash


In Polk County, the passenger inside a vehicle is dead after the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn.

On August 20, 2013 at approximately 3:23 a.m., Jordan Lavoie, age 21 of Pleasant Hope, Missouri was operating a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix along with passengers; Aaron Case, age 18 of Halfway, Missouri and Christina Ritchie, age 20 of Springfield, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Jordan was traveling in the northbound direction on South 237th Road and 3 miles northeast of Pleasant Hope. The crash occurred as Jordan lost control of the vehicle, went off the right side of the road, collided with an embankment and overturned.

Christina Ritchie was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Polk County coroner, Roy Harms, and then transported to Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. Aaron Case received moderate injuries and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Jordan Lavoie did not seek medical attention.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, neither Christina nor Jordan was wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash and it is unknown whether or not Aaron was wearing his.

Jordan’s 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix received total damages and was towed by B & B Wrecker.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop D and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
