Passenger Dies in Single-vehicle Crash

In Greene County, the driver of a vehicle lost control and overturned several times which ejected the occupants and killing the passenger.

On September 25, 2012 at approximately 6:58 a.m., Dalton White, age 17 from Willard, Missouri was operating a 1997 Ford Expedition. Lois Williams, age 17, and Jeffrey Keith, age 42, were the passengers in the vehicle during the time of the crash.

The crash occurred as Dalton was traveling in the southbound direction of Missouri highway 13 and 1.5 miles north of Springfield, Missouri. The vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and Dalton over corrected, lost control, went back off the roadway into the median, and overturned several times. Both Dalton and Jeffrey were ejected from the vehicle.

Jeffrey Keith was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Greene County medical examiner, Tom Vandeberg, and then his body was transported to Springfield Mortuary. Dalton White and Lois Williams suffered serious injuries from the crash and were taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

The 1997 Ford Expedition received total damages from the crash and was towed by All Night Towing and Recovery.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop D. This is troop D’s 69th fatality for 2012.
