When one driver failed to stop for traffic ahead on Highway 61 in Jefferson County, he crashed into the front of another driver’s vehicle, which resulted in the death of the at-fault driver’s passenger.
On April 23, 2012 at approximately 2:30 P.M., 44-year-old Robert Killgore from Festus, Missouri was southbound on Highway 61 1/3 of a mile south of I-55 in Jefferson County while operating a 1998 Lincoln Navigator. At said time and place, Jordan Domenick, age 23, from Festus, Missouri was operating a 2008 Nissan Altima and heading north. Domenick had one passenger – Logan Benoist, age 23, from Festus, Missouri.
Domenick’s passenger, Benoist, was killed as a result of this crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Joachim Plattin EMS Personnel,. The next-of-kin was notified. Benoist was taken by Schaefer Mortuary Service to the St. Louis County Morgue. Domenick, the at-fault driver, suffered moderate injuries and was taken by Joachim Plattin Ambulance to Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Killgore suffered moderate injuries and was taken by Joachim Plattin Ambulance to Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
This investigation was led by Trooper T. H. Elliston and assisted by Corporal C. T. Davies of Troop C in Jefferson County.
