Passenger Seriously Injured in Single-vehicle Crash


In Scott County, the passenger and driver inside a vehicle are ejected after losing control, receiving serious to moderate injuries.

On August 17, 2013 at approximately 1:23 a.m., Mark Drury, age 21 of Scott City, Missouri was operating a 1998 Chevrolet Camaro along with passenger David Jansen, age 21 of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Mark Drury was traveling in the westbound direction on Missouri Route PP and 2 miles east of Kelso. The crash occurred as Mark lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the roadway, colliding with a sign, utility pole and a tree. Mark and David were both ejected from the vehicle.

David Jansen received serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center. Mark Drury received moderate injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, neither Mark Drury nor David Jansen was wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash.

Mark’s 1998 Chevrolet Camaro received total damages and was released to the owner.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop E.
