Passenger Seriously Injured in ATV Crash


In Clark County, two people receive injuries after they crash and are ejected off the ATV, resulting in serious injuries for the passenger.

On June 13, 2013 at approximately 2:00 p.m., Westin Schorr, age 16 from Alexandria, Missouri was operating a 2008 Kawasaki ATV along with passenger Dannieka Bertelli, age 15 of Kahoka, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Westin was traveling in the westbound direction on private property and three miles west of Alexandria. The crash occurred as Westin was traveling west on a levy and ran off the left side, overturning numerous times. Both Westin and Dannieka ejected from the ATV.

Dannieka Bertelli was seriously injured from the crash and was transported to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Westin Schorr received minor injuries and was taken to Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, neither Westin Schorr nor Dannieka Bertelli was wearing safety equipment at the time of the crash.

Westin’s 2008 Kawasaki ATV received extensive damages and was removed from the scene of the crash by the owner.

This ATV crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop B and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
