Passengers Seriously Injured in Crash


In Phelps County, four people are injured after a single-car crash that occurred on County Road 5010.

On February 16, 2014 at approximately 1:25 a.m., Thomas Rector, age 33 of Licking, Missouri was operating a 2005 Dodge Stratus along with passengers; Benjamin Christenson, age 39 of Rolla, Missouri, Amy Frederich, age 25 of Licking, Missouri, Christian Thomas, age 20 of Eldridge, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Thomas Rector was traveling in the southbound direction on County Road 5010 and three miles south of Rolla, Missouri. The crash occurred as Thomas failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the right side of the roadway, and then collided with a wooden post as well as several trees. Christian Thomas was ejected from the vehicle.

Thomas Rector received serious injuries and was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Benjamin Christenson was seriously injured and was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur. Christian Thomas received moderate injuries and was transported by Phelps County ambulance to Phelps County Regional Medical Center. Amy Frederich received minor injuries and was transported by St. James ambulance to Phelps County Regional Medical Center.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all the participants involved in this crash were wearing their seat belts except for Christian Thomas whom was ejected from the vehicle.

Thomas Rector’s 2005 Dodge Stratus received total damages and was towed by Ron Dishman Towing of Rolla, Missouri.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop I.
