Pedestrian Fatally Injured After Being Struck On I-70

Lafayette County – A pedestrian was struck by a car on I-70 in the late hours of March 25, 2013.

John E. Brown, 25, of St. Louis was fatally injured when he was struck by a 2011 Dodge Ram driven by Joshua B. Jean, 38, of Philpot, KY.

The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. March 25 in the westbound lane on I-70 near the state Highway 13 junction. Missouri State Highway Patrol stated that Brown was walking in the right lane of traffic when he was struck by Jean’s pickup truck.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene by Lafayette County Coroner Dr. D. Singh and transported to Lafayette Regional Morgue.

Jean’s 2011 Dodge Ram received extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Wilkinsons Tow.

Jean did not receive any injuries and was reported to be wearing his seat belt.

The accident was assisted by Trooper M. J. Hanrahan and Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department. This is Troop A’s ninth fatality.
