Platte County Crash Leads to Injury for Two Missouri Residents

Missouri I-29 crash involving three vehicles, including a bus, leaves two St. Joseph, Missouri residents injured.

On October 6, 2011 at approximately 7:50 a.m., 59 year old Jerry Williams of St. Joseph, Missouri was operating a 2001 Ford traveling southbound on I-29, south of MO 92. At that said time and place, 26 year old Aaron Bublit and his passenger, 58 year old Kathy Bublit, were also traveling southbound on I-29.

At that same time and place, 57 year old Kevin Groves of Kansas City, Missouri was operating a 2000 International bus on southbound I-29 alongside the above listed drivers. Groves then travelled into the path of Williams. Williams then swerved into the path of the Bublit vehicle in attempts to avoid Groves’ bus, forcing the Bublit vehicle off the left side of the roadway. Williams then struck Groves’ bus, ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned. The Bublit vehicle travelled back onto the roadway, struck Groves’ bus twice, and came to a rest.

Jerry Williams was taken from the scene of the crash to North Kansas City Hospital by NRAD EMS with moderate injuries. The passenger in the Bublit vehicle, Kathy Bublit, was taken to Heartland Hospital by NRAD EMS after sustaining minor injuries in the crash. The at-fault driver, Kevin Groves, was not injured in the crash.

William’s vehicle received total damage in the crash and was towed from the scene by GT Tow. The Bublit vehicle received extensive damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Express Tow. The at-fault bus received moderate damage in the crash and was driven from the scene.

All drivers possessed insurance coverage for their vehicles at the time of the crash. All drivers and passengers involved in this crash were wearing their safety devices.

This crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper C. Kutzner of Troop A and was assisted by Sgt. D.J. Hedrick, Trooper M. Yoder, Platte City and Kansas City Fire Departments. Investigation of this crash continues, charges are pending.
