Serious Crash Caused By Fireworks


In St. Louis County, a mother and her two sons are seriously injured after fireworks ignited inside the vehicle and caused a serious crash on I-270.

On November 20, 2013 at approximately 6:10 a.m., Kara Koriath, age 43 of Manchester, Missouri was operating a 2008 GMC Acadia along with her two sons; Matthew Dreste, age 13, and Andrew Dreste, age 16.

At that said date and time, Kara was traveling in the northbound direction on I-270 at Clayton Road. The crash occurred as fireworks ignited inside the vehicle, causing Kara to lose control of the vehicle. Their vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, colliding with the guardrail and two road signs.

Kara Koriath, Matthew and Andrew Dreste all received serious injuries from the crash and were transported by Des Peres Fire to Mercy Hospital.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all participants were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Kara’s 2008 GMC Acadia received total damages and was towed by McNamara’s Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
