In Scott County, a driver was operating his vehicle on the wrong side of the road which resulted in a head-on collision with a young woman.
On August 23, 2012 at approximately 6:35 p.m., Katie Ruedrich, age 20 and of Sikeston, Missouri was operating a 2006 Hyunda Sonota and traveling in the northbound direction on County Road 452. Jamie Abernathy, age 40 and of Morley, Missouri was operating a 2007 Ford F350 and traveling in the southbound direction on County Road 452.
At that said time and place, Jamie was traveling in the southbound direction as Katie was traveling in the northbound direction on County Road 452 when the collision occurred. A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that Jamie Abernathy was operating his vehicle on the wrong side of the roadway when he collided with Katie’s vehicle head-on.
Katie Ruedrich was air evacuated to St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau for her serious injuries due to the head-on collision. Katie’s current condition remains unknown to the public. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jamie Abernathy was uninjured and did not seek medical attention.
Neither Katie Ruedrich nor Jamie Abernathy was found to be wearing their seat belts during the time of the head-on collision.
This crash collision was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop E.
