Serious Injuries from Vehicle Crossing into Center of Roadway


In Morgan County, a driver crossed into the center of the roadway causing him to strike two vehicle.

On June 17, 2014 at approximately 4:15 a.m., Nathan Gibson, age 26 of Barnett, Missouri was operating a 1998 Toyota Truck. Louis Kloeptel, age 72 of Meta, Missouri was operating a 1993 Kenworth. Matthew Dietrick, age 28 of Kansas City, Missouri was operating a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix with passenger Brett Braun, age 31 of Lake Ozark, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Nathan Gibson crossed the center of the roadway on Missouri 52, and Old Marvin Road. Nathan struck Louis’s Semi truck, and then struck Matthew’s Pontiac.

Matthew Dietrick received serious injuries, Brett Braun received moderate injuries, and both were transported by Staff for Life to University Hospital. According to The Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Report Nathan Gibson and Louis Kloeptel were not injured in this accident.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Louis was wearing his seat belt, but it is unknown whether Brett and Matthew were wearing theirs. Nathan was not wearing his seat belt.

Matthew’s 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix was totaled and towed by D and R Towing. Louis’s 1993 Kenworth received extensive damages and was towed by Woods Towing. Nathan’s 1998 Toyota Truck was totaled and towed by D and R Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol with the assistance of Troop F.
