Seven Injured In Head On Collision In Lincoln County

Lincoln County- A head-on collision Thursday evening left one dead and six injured.

On May 9, 2013 at approximately 5:50 p.m. Shaun A. Rivera, age 30 of Troy, was operating a 2000 Chrysler Sebring westbound on Highway C. Abby M. Rivera, age 11, and Dillion D. Shell, age 9, were the only two passengers in Shaun Rivera’s vehicle. Jessica L. Weinreis, age 35 of Old Monroe, was operating a 2013 Ford Explorer eastbound on Highway C. Drake C. Weinreis, age 3, Ella R. Weinreis, age 6, and Van A. Weinreis, age 9, were the only three passengers in Jessica Weinreis’ vehicle.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at N Shore Lane when Shaun A. Rivera crossed the center line and struck Jessica L. Weinreis’ vehicle head-on. Shaun A. Rivera was the only person not wearing a seat belt.

Shaun A. Rivera was taken by Lincoln Ambulance where he was pronounced dead by Dr. Alkaade at 6:57 p.m. at Lincoln County Medical Center. Abby M. Rivera and Dillion D. Shell were transported to Children’s Hospital by Air Evacuation with moderate injuries. Drake C. Weinreis, Ella R. Weinreis, Jessica L. Weinreis, and Van A. Weinreis were all transported to St. Joseph Health Center West by Lincoln County Ambulance with minor injuries.

Shaun A. Rivera’s 2000 Chrysler Sebring and Jessica L. Weinreis’ 2013 Ford Explorer both received total damages and were towed by El Rancho Towing.

This accident was investigated by Trooper R. R. Davis and assisted by Trooper D. J. Duffie of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C.
