Sheryl Hughes of Dixon Missouri is Tragically Killed in another Highway 63 Accident.


Dixon, Missouri- Wednesday, November 30th, 2016 will mark another sad day on Missouri roadways.

A fatal crash in the early morning hours has claimed the life of Sheryl Hughes, 59, of Dixon, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol report states, the accident occurred at approximately 5:15 a.m. on Highway 63, between the small towns of Vienna and Freeburg.

According to the report, a southbound 2009 Dodge Journey, driven by Ryan Gascon, 21, of Rolla Missouri, collided with the northbound, 2016 Chevrolet Cruze of Sheryl Hughes, head-on. After the initial collision that proved fatal for Mrs. Hughes, Gascon’s Dodge, struck a second northbound vehicle, driven by Pamela Boyer, 32, of Vichy Missouri. Mrs. Boyer’s 2006 Dodge Stratus received moderate damage in the collision, while Gascon’s Dodge and Sheryl Hughes Chevrolet were both totaled.

Brent Rasmussen, 44, also from Dixon Missouri, got caught up in the 4 car auto accident. Rasmussen was also driving northbound in a 2010 Dodge Ram and hit debris that was thrown from the first two collisions.

Rasmussen, Gascon and Boyer received no injuries as a result from the collisions. Sheryl Hughes was tragically pronounced at the scene at 6:25 a.m. by Maries County Coroner, David Martin.

Sheryl Hughes was the loving wife to Larry Hughes of Dixon. If you are from the area, you probably know part or all of the large Dixon family. They are a well loved bunch in and around the Dixon community.

This fatal crash marks the 3rd fatal crash for the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop I, for the month of November. It is their 35th for the year.

The accident was investigated by Cpl. J D Fariole, 1364, and he was assisted by Sgt. J D Cox, 654, Sgt. J A Mulkey, 1186, Tpr. R A Tyler, 428, the Maries County Sheriff’s Department, the Vienna Fire Department, Freeburg’s Fire Department and Beck Towing & Beck Motors, both of Freeburg, Missouri.
