St. Charles County Crash Ends in Fatality for Missouri Woman

Troy, Missouri resident is fatally wounded after her vehicle was struck from behind by a Mack dump truck.

On October 11, 2011 at approximately 1:04 p.m., 48 year old Lori Brewer of Troy, Missouri was operating a 2006 Jeep Wrangler traveling in the right lane of northbound US 61, about .5 miles north of Route A. At that said time and place, 47 year old Darryl Berhorst of Canton, Missouri was operating a 2006 Mack TH-13 dump truck, traveling northbound in the left lane of US 61.

At that said time and place, Brewer changed lanes in front of Berhorst. Brewer then applied her breaks. Berhorst failed to slow and his truck struck Brewer in the rear. Brewer’s vehicle then traveled into the median, struck a culvert and overturned several times.

Lori Brewer was transported from the scene of the crash by Arch Helicopter to Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur where she later died. Dump truck driver, Darryl Berhorst, was uninjured in the crash. Brewer’s vehicle received total damage in the crash and was towed from the scene by I-70 Towing. Berhorst’s dump truck received only minor damage and was driven from the scene of the crash.

It is unknown whether the decedent was wearing her safety device at the time of the crash. The decedent did not possess vehicular insurance coverage at the time of the crash. Berhorst, driver of the dump truck, was covered by insurance at the time of the crash.

This crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper K. Brown of Troop C.
