St. Clair Residents Seriously Injured in Tree Crash


In Franklin County, three St. Clair residents are seriously injured after the driver collided with a tree.

On April 22, 2013 at approximately 8:55 p.m., Robert Lewis, age 28 from St. Clair, Missouri was operating a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier. His two passengers were Stephen Cox, age 48, and Joseph Temares, age 31. All participants involved in this crash are from St. Clair, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Robert Lewis was traveling in the westbound direction on Mill Hill Road and .10 mile east of Bruns Bridge. The crash occurred as Robert’s neglected to maintain and operate the vehicle correctly which caused the vehicle to travel off the right side of the roadway, up an embankment, and collided into a tree.

The passengers, Stephen Cox and Joseph Temares, received serious injuries and were taken to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur by air evacuation helicopter. Robert Lewis was seriously injured from the collision and was transported to St. Anthony’s Medical Center by St. Clair ambulance.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, none of the men were wearing their seat belts during the time of the collision.

Robert Lewis’ 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier received total damages and was towed by Vogelgesang’s Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
