St. Joseph, Missouri Man Killed in Dekalb County Crash

Missouri man is fatally injured in rear-end US 36 crash with utility bucket truck.

On December 29, 2011 at approximately 5:26 p.m., 63 year old Thomas Stohr of St. Joseph, Missouri was operating a 2000 Ford traveling eastbound on US 36, about two miles east of Stewartsville. Stohr was not transporting any passengers.

At that said time and place, 29 year old Christopher Kemp of Patterson, Missouri was operating a 2005 International Utility Bucket Truck. Kemp was pulling onto westbound US 36, in front of Stohr, from a field. Stohr’s vehicle collided with the rear of Kemp’s utility bucket truck. Both vehicles came to rest in the westbound lane of US 36.

Thomas Stohr was pronounced dead at 6:14 p.m. by the Dekalb County Coroner. Stohr was transported from the scene of the crash to Bram Funeral Home in Maysville, Missouri by Dekalb County Coroner. Truck driver, Christopher Kemp, was uninjured in the crash. Both parties were wearing their safety devices at the time of the crash.

Stohr’s vehicle sustained total damage in the crash and was towed from the scene by Scotty’s of Cameron, Missouri. The utility truck sustained extensive damage and was also towed from the scene of the crash by Scotty’s of Cameron. It is unknown whether either driver possessed insurance coverage for their vehicles at the time of the crash.

This crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. P.M. Kimball of Troop H and was assisted by Cpl. A.A. Henry, Sgt. M.A. Cool and the Dekalb County SO.
