On October 13, 2011 at approximately 6:15 p.m., 20 year old Torri Stiefferman of St. Peters, Missouri was operating a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo traveling southbound on I-270, about .1 mile north of I-55. Courtney Monroe, 29 year old of Ballwin, Missouri was traveling on southbound I-270 directly behind Stiefferman.
At that said time and place, 58 year old Edward Long of Clearwater, Florida was operating a 2006 Freightliner tractor trailer traveling on southbound I-270 behind Stiefferman and Monroe. Stiefferman and Monroe were stopped for traffic in lane three. Long failed to slow in time and the front of his tractor trailer struck the rear of Monroe, forcing her vehicle into the rear of Stiefferman.
Courtney Monroe was taken from the scene of the crash to St. Anthony’s Hospital by Mehlville Ambulance with moderate injuries. Torri Stiefferman was uninjured in the crash. The at-fault driver, Edward Long, was also uninjured in the crash. All drivers possessed insurance coverage for their vehicles at the time of the crash.
Monroe’s vehicle received total damage in the crash and was towed from the scene by Miners towing. Stiefferman’s vehicle received extensive damage and was also towed from the scene of the crash by Miners towing. Long’s tractor trailer received moderate damage in the crash and was towed from the scene by private conveyance.
This crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper A. Ashby.
