St. Louis Crash Results in Serious Injuries for Pacific, Missouri Family

Two woman and three children of Pacific, Missouri were seriously injured in a crash occurring on I-44 in St. Louis County.

At approximately 7:45pm on February 7, 2011, Sandra Gibbons, 45 year old of Pacific, was traveling westbound on I-44 at the 259.4 mile marker. Gibbon’s vehicle was occupied by herself, her 7 year old daughter, Alyssa Gibbons, 11 year old son, Logan Gibbons, and 14 year old son, Christopher Gibbons. At that said time and place, Leslie Wood was operating a 2003 Toyota Tundra also traveling westbound on I-44 directly behind Sandra Gibbons.

Leslie Wood drove her vehicle directly into the back of Sandra Gibbons, forcing Gibbons off the right side of the roadway, striking a rock bluff. Wood also travelled off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

Sandra Gibbons and her three children were taken by Meramec Ambulance to St. Clare Health Center with moderate injuries. The at-fault driver, Wood, was taken by Eureka Fire Protection District to St. Johns Mercy Hospital in Washington with serious injuries.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene by Hyndrich Brothers Towing. All parties involved in the crash were wearing their safety devices. Wood, the at-fault driver, does not have auto insurance.
