T-bone Collision Causes Serious Injuries


In Dent County, three people are seriously injured as a result of the t-bone crash that occurred on the Missouri Highway 19.

On February 22, 2014 at approximately 10:40 a.m., Jason Gongaware, age 25 of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri was operating a 2003 Subaru Legacy along with Kurtis Kohlman, age 24 of St. Peters, Missouri. Leslee Cook, age 35 of Salem, Missouri was operating a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado along with passenger, Joshua Bounds, age 17 of Salem, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Jason Gongaware was traveling in the eastbound direction while Leslee Cook was traveling in the northbound direction on Missouri Highway 19 and 10 miles south of Salem, Missouri. The crash occurred as Jason was southbound on MO 19 when he turned into the path of Leslee Cook’s vehicle, crashing into her car.

Joshua Bounds was seriously injured and transported by Mercy Life Line to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. Kurtis Kohlman received serious injuries and was transported by air evacuation to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. Jason Gongaware received moderate injuries and was transported by Salem ambulance to Salem Hospital.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, none of the participants involved in this crash were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.

Jason’s 2003 Subaru Legacy and Leslee’s 1995 Chevrolet Silverado both received total damages and were towed by Whitaker’s Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop I.
