Teenage Driver Fatality in Greene County


In Greene County, the driver of a vehicle is killed and his passenger is seriously injured after the vehicle traveled off the roadway and crashed into a tree.

On March 18, 2013 at approximately 7:29 p.m., Garrett Blotter, age 16 from Republic, Missouri was operating a 2006 Toyota TC. Desmond Roy, age 16 from Republic, Missouri was the only passenger inside Garrett’s vehicle at the time of the crash.

At that said date and time, Garrett Blotter was traveling westbound along Miller Road. The fatality crash occurred as Garrett’s vehicle traveled off the roadway and collided head-on with a tree.

Garrett Blotter was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by medical examiner, Tom Vanderberg, and was later transported to the Springfield Mortuary. Desmond Roy received serious injuries from the collision and was flown to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri in critical condition.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, both occupants involved were wearing their seat belts during the time of the crash.

Garrett Blotter’s 2006 Toyota TC received total damages and was towed by Premier Towing of Springfield, Missouri.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop D. This is Troop D’s 21st fatality for 2013.
