Teenager Killed in One-Vehicle Crash


In Miller County, a teenager is killed after he is ejected from the vehicle.

On June 29, 2013 at approximately 12:24 a.m., Jacob Ponder, age 18 of Dixon, Missouri was operating a 2002 Ford Windstar van along with passenger Collin Colvin, age 15 of Iberia, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Jacob Ponder was traveling in the westbound direction on Curry Road and .25 miles east of Highway U. The crash occurred as Jacob’s vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, collided with two fences and then overturned.

Collin Colvin received serious injuries from the crash was transported to Lake Regional Hospital in critical condition. Later Collin was pronounced dead by Dr. Dean Karas. Jacob Ponder did not seek medical attention.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, neither Jacob Ponder nor Collin Colvin was wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Jacob Ponder’s 2002 Ford Windstar received total damages from the crash and was towed by Hi-Tech Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop F and Miller County deputies. This is Troop F’s 13th fatality for 2013 and 4th fatality for June.
